I am trying to find the fastest switching solution for my circuit. The switch must be non polarity sensitive which is why at the moment I am using a toggle switch. I think a relay may work faster but am not sure if i should go for a SSR, are they polarity sensitve?

I have tried SCRs and FETs but these must be attached to the cicuit correctly as they are polarity sensitive.

Does anyone have any ideas about fast switching?

 

How fast is fast to you?

What is the signal that you are switching? Voltage, amperage?

You mentioned SSR, did you mean SCR, or perhaps TRIACs?

SSRs are not polarity sensitive if one chooses a bi-directional SSR. SSRs for DC are indeed polarity sensitive.

Switching speed will depend on the specific component, but they will definitely be faster than mechanical relays. An SSR will switch on the order of 1mS or less.
