Hi all

We need to transmit 100Mbps ethernet data over 1000m cable having 50 Quads (AWG 30) in it. We cannot use any repeaters or fiber optic cables in our case.

Although We are using 100Mbs ethernet connection but minimum required data rate is 20Mbps(without considering any losses).

Is there any converter available which convert ethernet format into some other format suitable for transmission over 1000m long quad cable (AWG30) at our required data rates?

Any help will be much appreciated

Wikipedia says "According to the ANSI/TIA/EIA standard for category 5e cable, (TIA/EIA 568-5-A[6]) the maximum length for a cable segment is 100 meters (328 feet)."

That's with the right kind of cable. You want a link that's 10 times longer with makeshift cable? I wouldn't trust it.

You might look at short-haul modems. Like this (I just found this company by searching. I have no connection with it):
