I am undertaking an evaluation project for a PDU for the Project design syllabus of my HND.

I am undertaking a lot of testing to research comparable devices and suggest ways of making the PDU better for student use. I am just wondering if there is some sort of measuring device that someone could suggest to measure heat that is produced through the ergonomics and outer casing of the PDU? I could use a traditional mercury thermometer but would like to create a sense of professionalism and accuracy.

Any suggestions anyone?

I think you guys are getting a little mixed up with your 'American English'....much like your laughable 'Friendly Fire' which you alss seem to get mixed up quite often? Lol It really wasn't an integrity attack guys. Don't worry I'll find a solution. Thanks

 

Basically, what is being attempted is a poor attempt at humor, asking that acronyms not be used (or not used without definition). This is an international forum, and all members may not recognize what you are saying.

For example, if I were to refer to something as WP, I would not expect someone to know I was saying it was wicked pisser. And additionally, unless the reader was from Boston, would I expect them to know what I mean.

Please don't be offended, it was indeed meant as friendly humour.

You might have been bombarded in your classroom with PDU as having one meaning, but some of us have been kicking around for decades and have seen popular terms come and go. And on a forum you mix in people from different languages and cultures as well as different eras.

It's a good idea to clarify TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms) to remove any ambiguity and make it easier for people to help you.

When a google search shows the top handful of hits for "PDU" as totally different things it is hardly a BPA (Bullet Proof Acronym)... (OK, I just made that one up).

Please don't let our clumsy attempts at humour (or the lack of replies) drive you away. Sometimes replies take time, and your focus on "making a PDU better for student use" is something people may not have much experience in.

Re measuring heat through the plastic casing, an infrared non-contact thermometer ($20 on ebay) will do very nicely.
