Equipment Ratings 690 vs 600 volts

Is there a benefit to having a 690V VFD vs a 600V rated VFD (Variable Frequency Drive)?

The output of the VFD is programmed to trip if it exceeds the rating of the motor which typically is 1100 volts at a 2 micro second rise time. (Nema MG1, Part 30)

What's the point?
