could someone explain what the attached symbol stands for? This was on instructions for programing a generator controller. Thanks.

I have found the symbol:

Converter, general symbol Notes:
(1) If the direction of change is not obvious,
it may be indicated by an arrowhead on the outline of the symbol.
(2) A symbol or legend indicating the input or output quantity, waveform etc.
may be inserted in each half of the general symbol to show the nature of change.

The 0 or 4 to 20 ma (0/4 20ma) designation would seem to indicate some sort of current control or instrumentation loop commonly used with PLCs or other controllers.
