Electronically Press DC Microswitch

Hi - I have a simple 4.5 volt dc toy which does a 5-10 second animation when a micro switch is pressed.

I would like to simulate pressing this button on a breadboard when a signal is sent from an Xbee radio. I have soldered two leads to the microswitch which if touched together (or me acting as resistor) activates the animation.

I thought I could do this by closing a switch on a relay to connect the leads on and off but this does not work - although it does fire the animation when I connect the leads to the breadboard even before the switch is thrown.

Could someone point me in the right direction. ty.

The relay contacts (N.O. normally open) will close when the relay activates.

That should give exactly the same function you get when the two wires are touched together.

I think a likely explanation is that you wired to the wrong relay pins, or had a bad connection in your wiring.

Relay works fine as simple switch to power an led... Followed a tutorial the seems correct to set up a 6 pin relay. I'll keep poking and report back when I hash it out.
