Electronic Load and SwPS

    Hi people!

    I am trying to confirm the output characteristics of a switching power supply (19V, 1.6A) using an electronic load(BKPrecision 8512).

    The electronic load sinks 1.6A (constant current mode, look in pdf given) and the output voltage of the power supply should stay almost 19V.

    Implementing the above thought I had a voltage output of 15V.

    Is my way of thinking wrong or the power supply does not work right? What am I missing?

    To confirm the load, measure the current. If it is correct, the power supply is not working correctly.

    I used to design power supplies. Load testing was mandatory. They either met the specifications or they were defective.

    You could try a different load...11.875 ohms, 60 watts, and a toggle switch. That would clear up doubts about the electronic load. You are still in the stage of verifying your equipment. This is normal.

    The power supply was given to me as fully functional but as it was proved it was defective!!!
