Hi all, I'm looking to create an electronic candle and need some help. First of all I want to use a group of LED'S for the light and vary the output in a RANDOM manner to create a shimmering effect of varying output similar to that of a candle. I would like the output variable so that I may control the apparent brightness of the "candle" to any where from almost full on to full off. Can anyone give me some ideas on where to start?

You can easily do it with a microcontroller. Also, you will use the PWM feature of the microcontroller to control the brightness.
