Electro magnetic coil using PWM drive

Hi friends,
This is the first time I'm posting a thread. Hope I done better. My request is I want to know how can we control a Electro-magnetic coil using PWM? If any one knows please send me links.

Basically, like this.

The important thing is to have a path for the coil current to flow when the PWM is off. A "freewheel diode" is used. See picture.
