I would suggest to have the contents of the above given links be reviewed.

"A three phase motor may be run from a single phase power source." The latter contents can be found in the first link given above. The links are .........:cool: ∞ +1 + 0 = ∞ ?????

I don't understand the problem you are seeing. A three phase motor can RUN from a single phase...it cannot START. If you are using a flywheel design where some other force is turning the flywheel, you can use a 3-phase motor supplied by 1 phase to "boost" the flywheel. Not the most efficent. As for the book, I think the author is showing how it can work using the methodology described. As well as trying to help the reader understand how the start coils work in conjunction with the run coils. I guess it could be cleared up.
