Couldn't really see the appropriate category, so I'm going with this one. Can anyone tell me the answer to this question:
Is an 80-amp fuse strip thicker or thinner than a 40-amp fuse strip?
Thank you, Sand

You wouldn't necessarily be able to tell by the physical size; you have to go by the manufacturer's ratings.

Just so you know, fuse design is not an area for amateurs to dabble in. A fuse is the "last line of defense" before things go horribly wrong. A badly designed or improperly selected fuse that tries to break a mains circuit can turn into a blazing plasma ball, devouring anything it touches - including humans - faster than you can blink an eye.

You mention 80 Amperes, but you didn't mention your application - are you dealing with low voltage (under 50v) DC, AC, or high voltage AC or DC?

Is this an existing fuse panel/fuse holder, or are you trying to plan for a new application?
