I'm sorry for awakening almost a 3 months old thread, but I have a question. Is it possible to turn touch dispensers (like these) into touch-free ones without damaging a visual part of it?

Certainly it is possible to change them into touch-free controlled dispensers. But will the value be worth the cost? What is the control mechanism now? If it is presently a mechanical switch, then the change can be simpler. If the whole mechanism is mechanical, then adding electronics becomes a lot more complex.
