earth battery to be powered by joule thief

I made a nice joule thief over the weekend and the earth battery I am
working on lights up an led with voltages from the battery at about .8vdc.
I tried to construct a voltage doubler to boost the voltage but using IN4001 diodes and 25v 2200uf caps didn't even boost enough power
to register an increase on the vom. Testing the booster from a power
supply Vin at 2.vdc direct got me nowhere. What the heck did I do wrong?
Am I thinking incorrectly about this approach? Is there another booster
circuit which might give this ole man better results?
Please advise.

There ain't no such thing as a power booster.

You can't even get out what you put in.

That said, no advice can be given for a circuit not presented. Post your schematic if you want advise.

Your diode is probably too slow for a doubler at the frequency your joule thief is working at. J/T usually work at KHZ and 4001 works at frequencies much lower. And you cap is wrong. Use fast diodes and small ceramic caps, and sure post a schematic.

An Earth battery is a pair of electrodes made of two dissimilar metals, such as iron and copper, which are buried in the soil or immersed in the sea. Earth batteries act as water activated batteries and if the plates are sufficiently far apart, they can tap telluric currents. Earth batteries are sometimes referred to as Telluric power sources and Telluric generators.

 What powers what ?

The earth battery feeds the Joule thief that turns on the led ? That is not what the subject title says !

If the led turns on; what else do you want to achieve ?
