Eagle: cmd-net-list2sch.ulp

I have Eagle all set up on my computer and working, but I am having trouble using the netlist to schematic utility. I created a simple test schematic (to see how the utility works) with a resistor, capacitor, and a diode, and simple connections between them. I then exported the netlist and partslist using the schematic export menu item. I then created a new project for the purpose of importing the netlist to see how well the utility works. First, I can't figure out how to use the partslist file to get the individual components into the new schematic. Thus, I manually placed the same parts into the schematic with the correct reference designators as the original schematic, but with no connections. I then ran the cmd-net-list2sch.ulp utility and selected the original netlist file, but it returns an error "Device D1 pin 1 not found". Any ideas?

Thank you very much for your time,

Andrew

Andrew,
You need to attach the netlist that you exported.
Make sure that it has a .txt extension, or it will be rejected by the board software.

Welcome to AAC.

Your post asked about a different netlist problem than the original thread - http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/showthread.php?t=9425 - so now you have your own confusing thread, as I blew the merge. I completely missed that the original thread was over a year old. Pardon is begged from all.

Andrew,
I don't recall ever using that ULP program before; I may have tried it out around the time I made that post over a year ago.

However, I tried it just now, and I didn't get anywhere with it. I simply get a message that:
"Program.ulp" not found or missing
several times before it aborts.
There may be something damaged in my installation. I am running an older version (4.16r2) and do not wish to upgrade to the new version.

Yes, I got the same error until I copied the cmd-net-list2sch.ulp file from the ULP directory to the root C: drive. Then it ran, but couldn't find the components. Thanks for checking though.

Andrew;
I don't know why you had to copy the .ULP to your C:\root.
This sounds like a problem for Cadsoft tech support.

Look here:
http://www.cadsoftusa.com/forum.htm
Direct link to the forums: http://www.eaglecentral.ca/forums/
(you need to follow directions on the link above the forum to be able to post)

The answer to this problem shouldn't be too complicated, but I just don't have the time to research it. The Eagle board and Cadsoft's own technical support staff should be able to give you a solution for the problem very quickly.
