Dual band antennas?

Does anyone have any experience with dual band antennas? The system I am designing for has a transmitter in the range of 2.4[GHz] - 2.51[GHz] and a receiver in the range of 4.8[GHz] - 5.1[GHz].

Are dual band antennas efficient as single band antennas? Signal rejection the same?

I am a n00b to antenna selection and theory so looking for some insight. I am trying to find a single band for each of the frequencies and found 2.4 GHz so far for obvious reasons. The 4.8 -5.1 GHz is harder to find, but I've found some dual band antennas in that range.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The termination of these antennas can either be SMA or RP-SMA

The magazine "Microwave Journal" also has a number of dual-band antenna types, which would be worth checking out. I was able to subscribe to the magazine for free, and I'm sure you can view their articles online. Hopefully they include the full extent of each article.
