Ds1820 & ds18s20 !!?

    The project im constructing uses the temperature sensor DS1820. The thing is I've gone to order DS1820 off Onecall and its giving me the suggestion of DS18S20.. My tutor has told me I wouldn't be able to get hold of the DS1820 the other day and its looking like I cant as I've searched all over Google!

    Would the DS18S20 work in place of the DS1820 in my project? Would the code on my PIC have to be changed? :/

    Help much appreciated pleaseeeee.

    Okay thankyou :D I've made an account with them and requested a price... But would the DS18S20 have actually worked?

    To answer your question, one has to place the search phrase "DS1820 DS18S20 difference" into Google and outcome the first hit, which I have done so and the result is shown below.

    Regarding your question if the DS18S20 would have actually worked, based on point 1 and 2 in the image below, yes.

    However, if the MCU is requesting conversion data from the DS18S20 at say 550ms interval, then NO. The sampling interval has to be lengthened to the meet device specification.

    Does anybody have a schematic to use for a ds1820 with an infrared transmiter.
    I use it now conected to a pic, but i need to have it out of the board, transmitind temp with an infrared transmiter and have a receiver conected to pic to read the temperature

    You may want to create a new topic for this.

    There is a LOT of work ahead of you for that project. Assuming you are fairly well versed with uC programming, you need to determine a data format to transfer the information over the IR signal. On the receiving side, another uC is needed to receive and demodulate/decode the signal sent, and display the result on the LCD.
