hi,

I'm constructing the biased clamping circuitas below. From what I know, I would get a signal as the second diagram. But when I measure from the scope I get the different result which is different with the one I expected. Can anyone help me on this?

the input signal is 38.4Vpp.
the output signal is Vb= 8V which is as shown in the second diagram. what is expected is Vb = 5V.

Thank you.

The diode forward drop will add to the resulting peak value. Also if your 5V battery has any appreciable internal resistance the peak value will be higher still. What are the actual components you are using? Diode type, etc?

1N4002 is a poor choice for this, it is best suited for slow speed/high current, such as a bridge rectifier. Instead try a nice small signal diode such as a 1N918 or a 1N4148.
