Difference between a barrier and a junction in semiconductors?

"Barrier" refers to the microscopic phenomena at the junction and is related to the potential difference across it. The junction is the physical point of contact between two dissimilar types of material.

disclaimer: I *think* that's the difference. I took a semiconductor class a few years ago, which is why I say *think*...it's been awhile. Anxious to hear what others have to say.

Yes. The potential barrier happens at the physical junction of p-type and n-type semiconductor material. The junction is a location, the barrier is an effect.
