I am trying to make a firing mechanisim that utilizes a pull style solenoid (6v DC...electromechanical PO-25). I want to use a push button switch that when depressed starts the timers and then activates the solenoid in approximately 8sec. During the count down if the button is pressed again the circuit is cleared and reset and the solenoid does not fire. I would like to use 2 3V batteries to power the system 2032's. Perferably I would to be able to change the time as well. I was thinking of using an LM555 in this fashion. will it work or is there a better way?

 

What is the the circuit going to fire?

 

It fires the solenoid which in turn will fire a release aid used with my competition bow.
