DC motors suitable for microcontrollers

I am looking for a suitable DC motor to control via a microcontroller's PWM outputs. Specifically the MSP430 Launchpad (only $4.30 free shipping!!). I am new to motor control and would like to experiment at home.
TI has a good application note but they do not give examples for the motor. I did find a company named Hansen that manufactures DC motors of low voltage and current so I am thinking this is a good start.
Does anyone have suggestions for a DC motor or even another example circuit for me to try?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty much any brushed DC motor should be fine. You can't power any motor from the micro directly, you need mosfets or transistors. So pick a motor, then buy mosfets to suit.
