Hi all,

I would like to build a DB25 breakout board with some sort of built in protection circuit, is it suitable to just connect up a bank of fuses one for each line?
or is there a slicker way of doing this?

I was also wondering if it would be possible to have activity LED's to indicate when each line is high or low?

An help regarding this is greatly appreciated.:)

Yes.

Geee that was an easy answer.

Try using optocouplers for your isolation/protection. There are literally 000's of circuits out there for exactly what you are trying to do. Do a search for "isolated D25 breakout board".

sry, my electronics knowledge is rookie at best, but slowly learning.

Not having a clue what an optocouplers was.
I did a bit of research into them, they are basically as the name describes an optical coupling.
These look ideal!
But i am still finding it hard to find a circuit diagram/ schematic to use.
I found some very complex breakout board schematics, which go far beyond my needs.
But haven't managed to find any basic ones using optocouplers and don't really have the knowledge to create the circuit myself.

Can anyone recommend a good tutorial or how to blog?
