Compare the language and font style settings on both systems.
Does an other browser on the xubuntu system also give the same problem?
There should be Opera , Konquerer and QupZilla available.

Hi guys;i'm not getting the browser link search in this E-machines intel celeron D in xubuntu 14.04 the same way i get in another pc intel P4.
see pic there is a black bar in place of the link http/www.
never seen this!any help on this would be apreciated

Thanks bertus; i was able to fix the issue.
For someone that come across this issue here it goes;




Click Edit,Preferences,go to enter about:config in the url bar and find the gfx.xrander.enabled and change the value to false
