Hello - I am trying to connect a Nunchuck I2C connector to a Devantech USB-I2C interface. The Nunchuck is calling for 3.5V but the I2C source Voltage is 5V. Can I use a resistor in parallel to lower the voltage from 5->3.5??

This is a software guy forced to tinker with hardware and it has been 20years since I have used Ohms law

Wouldn't want to do that in parallel, but two simple rectifiers in series will pull around 1.2V off of the 5V.

 

You want voltage divider, that is resistors in series.
