convert electromechanical counter into ascii output?

Hello,

I have 30 electromechanical counter which I would like to input in a Personal Computer

I need counters that output ascii signal to a PC

Is there anything available that does this? what is easiest way to have these 30 counts input into a PC?

There is no easy way I know of. What makes you think this is possible? It would be easier to construct a microcontroller that recorded the mechanical event and sent the data to a PC. You would not even need the mechanical counters.

If you are not into microcontrollers go to automation directs website and check out there click PLC line of controllers. For about the price of a mechanical counter you could use a PLC. If you have a need to count multiple events then you could modbus them together and have 1 of them configured as a master with the others as slaves. The master could ascii the total for each counter to the host PC.
