Hi, all

Can anyone explain what JTAG in detail ? (It looks like it is something to do with FPGA)

I searched and read some of descriptions, but I am a bit confused.

If someone can make it easy to understand, appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

Can you elaborate more ?

I already read it on the wikipedia before posting it. I thought maybe I could get some different explanation.

I really broad terms it provides a way to connect lots of flip-flops in a very long shift register to establish an initial condition. Then the test fixture will clock all of the flip-flops in the test chain some number of times. Then it will dump the very long shift register and look for an expected value(s). That is the test philosophy in a nutshell so to speak.

JTAG was established to provide a means of testing boards once surface mount technology became widely used. Keep in mind that in order to take advantage of JTAG testing, the device or devices you are testing must have been designed to meet the JTAG standard.
