I am looking for a compression/tension force sensor, it needs to be able to handle +/-500N, where can I find one??

It's been awhile since I've used these, but if memory serves, S-Beam load cells can do both compression and tension. 500N works out to ~112 lbf, so a 200 lbf sensor here might work. You'll need something to read the sensor.
