In power plants, basically hydro, the color painted on the equipments like generators, turbines(outer shield) are grey or yellow. Is there any reason behind that?

Some organizations utilize a form of color coding for some items. Different production lines getting different colors for instance. some places have no such coding. In power plants, basically hydro, the color painted on the equipments like generators, turbines(outer shield) are grey or yellow. In the plant I retired from we did not color code machinery such as pumps or motors but all the facility piping was color coded, for example Nitrogen, Oxygen, Helium. Shop Air, City Water, Reclaim Water Supply and Return, the list goes on. There were legends posted all throughout the facility identifying the color schemes. In power plants, basically hydro, the color painted on the equipments like generators, turbines(outer shield) are grey or yellow.
