Hi Guys,

in quite a few different circuits I've seen sections that the author has described as "circuit protection" or "over voltage protection" and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction where I could learn about the theory behind this. these have all been analogue circuits and have always used a combo of cap's diodes and resistors...
I'd like to understand the theory behind this so I can easily add it to other circuts that I create.
