I'm looking for a circuit to mimic the good ol' twinkle blink lights that were common on the c7 and c9 type christmas bulbs.

There's a lot of circuits for flashers, sequencers, etc. but what I'm hoping for is someone with knowledge in a circuit that would replicate the semi randomness in the classic blink bulbs that were controlled with heat.

I would like to reproduce the effect using LED lights, or regular bulbs - the classic twinkle bulbs are getting harder to find every year.

Thanks!

Just bight the bullet and build a bunch of small 555 timers running off of a 5V DC pair. Surface mount caps, 100 uF, 8/1$, 555's around $ .45.One timer per LED.
