Does anyone have any suggestions for manufactures or businesses that sell cheap 8Ω or 4Ω speakers? I need a few for lab testing purposes. Fry's Electronics may be a good place, but they are not close in Phoenix. Fry's is a grocery store here!

 

Some companies rebuild the expensive ones they change the coil,magnet,diaphragm. You can find cheap ones on www.allelectronics.com.

 

A lot of old computers used to use 8Ω units. I've paid $.25 each for them from computer salvage places.

 

Go to a swap meet and pick up some Polk 6" car speakers. Mount them in a boxes made out of pressboard, put some fiberglas insulation inside, drill 1" holes in the front for venting and be done with it.

Not scientific, but they'll work.
