Charging Litium Batteries

Some friend of mine, told me the correct way to charge a Litium Battery is to allow it to discharge almost completely and then charge it to it's maximum, and repeat the cycle again and again. He says that is incorrect to charge it if have 25, 50 or 75% of its charge.

That is his opinion because that is what Macintosh suggest to do with the batteries of their laptops, allow it to discharge almost completely and then charge them to their maximum.

What do you think about it?
