Capacitor start motor failed

    Hi Everyone,

    I have a question regarding the capacitor on an AC Cap start motor.

    If the motor was seized up and the motor was switched on but could not turn, what would hapen to the capacitor. Would the motor overheat and eventually cause the capacitor and wires connected to melt?
    I have a motor and it stoped working. the capacitor and wires inside are melted.

    Yes, because you will have no back EMF. Very likely to take down the windings too if the fuse didn't trip pretty quick.
