If the formula is 1/2PI F C Xc
and I want to solve for C

Xc=2.5k ohms
F=10kHz

C= 1/6.28x10Kx2.5k

(at this point, should I convert the 10K to 10,000 and the 2.5k to 2500??)

I saw the answer expressed in pico farads. (6370pf)

I am not certain why the answer would be expressed in pico farads??

Hi,

The formula for capacitive reactance is Xc = 1/2pi F C. Rearrange the equation to solve for C. Yes, you need to use 2500 & 10000 for Xc and F.

We use picofarads (pF) because the old convention of micro-microfarads was awkward. You can also express in nanofarads, or fractional farads if you like lots of zeroes following the decimal point.
