I have the TLE6251 spec sheet and PCA82C250 sheet. How do you find out whether these two CAN controllers are pin compatible and functionally compatible. TLE6251 is what im looking to hopefully use because the ESD resistance is 6kV. However, right now i have the PCA82C250 on the IC.

Hello Bertus thanks for your reply. I understand that they have 2 pins labled differently, but STB has the same overall function of Rs, and SPLIT also has the same purpose as a Vref. What are your reasons for non-compatibility?
Thanks for your help

As a side note the PCA82C250 is obsolete. It was replaced by the PCA82C251 which is more robust and can stand greater common mode voltage differences. Don't use the PCA82C250.

Another point -- they are not CAN controllers but CAN transceivers. A controller would be something like an SJA1000.
