Hello Everyone,
Can anyone tell me if i can use Ni-Md battery (AA Size) to be charged by a charger for Li-ion batteries. Actually, i have a trimmer which had a Li-ion battery and the battery is no longer holding charge. I tried to search Li-ion battery (AA Size, 600 mAh) but couldn't find it in the market. And its quite expensive online. Therefore, i am thinking to replace the battery with Ni-Md type chargeable battery instead.

Hello,

No, the charging schemes are quite different.
Also the NiMH battery is to be about 1.2 Volts, the lithium is likely to be about 4.2 Volts.
More info on batteries can be found here:

Thank you Bertus for your reply. Also, i visited the site you mentioned above. Its a good resource for knowledge on batteries. But it demands time to go through the site. I will definitely go through it later.
One more question. Can Lithium Polymer battery be used instead of Li-ion type in the above scenario?

Yes. I got the answer for this. Can I use li-ploymer instead?
If you mean using the aforementioned charger for LiPo, the answer is still no.

EDIT:
Think I misread your question. If you want to use a Li-ion charger on LiPo batteries, it's probably okay. You should do the research.

Not really, but in case of an emergency you can use it. But even then you have to carefully monitor it to prevent it from overheating and bursting. Not recommended.

I would suggest you get a universal charger that accepts Li-ion/NICd/NiMH etc. I'm guessing you are talking about this type of battery:

This cell size seems to be little more difficult to find from good brands like Sanyo, Sony etc. as they all seem to be out of stock on most sites.
