I cannot verify anything anymore. I got back to Athens now, vacations are over. However, I checked the video system again, before I left. It's as I said on post #6.

Don't sweat too much over it. Unless you find someone with a similar problem, I cannot verify any other assumption we might arrive at, since I 'm away from the TV set.

 

I would be tempted to try building a amp with 1.3 gain or so, just to see if it would make a difference.

 

I won't bother building a clumsy rig that my mother will complain about, just for them to see a video once every six months.
