Isolation is the best way to avoid surge transients. The article I referred to earlier explains. Good isolation - no discharge. Connecting chassis to logical 0V will bypass that isolation.

Are you sure you don't mean ESD when you say "testing at every opening"? A surge transient is more likely to literally blow things up.

:D I see what you’re trying to do there. I’m not going to bite. If I answered your question, I might as well done a search for you. But, my point is you have to do your oresearch*.

There are multiple search phrases I’d use, based on the difference between CAT6 and CAT7, the specs for each cable type and the specs for each cable termination type.

PS: I’d probably be more willing to help if you didn’t have a snotty attitude. And I can say that as I likely have a few more years of professional experience and as an old coot don’t like when young whippersnappers are disrespectful.
