batteryless panic alarm

The key fob for your car (if you have one) has a panic button. The battery almost never goes bad (mine is 12 years old). Just keep it and your car within range. I do.

the requirements are mainly the panic button has to run without the battery so we are using the super capacitor for charging and storage purpose .

but i need a supercapacitor that can generate 12 v

it is not a car it is a panic alarm for the old people for care taking purpose so presently the panic button runs with battery and this device should run without battery by using alternative sources

But why not a battery? Ok, if you really can't use that, how about a 200 ft tall wind generator? A super capacitor will discharge very quickly; a small one in a matter of days.

I miss your point.

1) Most of us old people are usually pretty close to our cars when alone. At least within range of the panic button on the key fob. I can set mine off from anywhere in my house.

2) The technology for an extremely mobile panic button/receiver that works already exists, namely the key fob/car receiver circuit. Why reinvent it? Will this hobbyist re-invention be anywhere nearly as well validated as the current system? There are few things worse than an emergency system that doesn't work when needed, like a parachute that doesn't open.

3) An emergency system that is plagued with false alarms loses its effectiveness. The problem that should be addressed is the security and range, not the battery. The battery is a non-issue and has been solved as already described. Certainly, the super-capacitor approach being pursued here is not a better solution.

4) Finally is range. Does an alarm that sounds locally provide anywhere near the protection for an older person as one that sounds remotely? If I fall, I am the first to know that. I don't need a loud alarm to tell me.

A super capacitor just stores energy. Essentially a rechargeable battery. There is nothing magical about it.

Again, how are you going to generate the power to charge the capacitor??????

Maybe make the poor old people drag a wheel and a generator???

Thanks for the idea... I combined a self-winding mechanism from a wristwatch to gather movement energy from the wearer, and attached it to a small piezoelectric generator that keeps a supercap charged. Sold it all to Cardinal Health Systems. ADT wasn't interested.

I expect to start receiving millions of dollars in royalties any day now.
