Hello
Have a woodward Schumacher model ws1010 input 117 vac 2.0 amp output 6-12 vdc at 10 amp battery charger.
Question is when i connect a 12 volts bulb to the battery charger the bulb will not light up ,but when connect the bulb to a 12 volts 500ma walmart power supply the bulb lights up or when try hookup a 12 volts power inverter rate at 400watts to the battery charger the power inverter will not working.
Can someone explain why a battery charger with 10amp out Cannot power a light bulb or power a power inverter but can charger a 12volt car battery.

Most of the newer battery chargers will not turn on until connected to a battery. The reason for that is to make sure you have connected the right polarity, positive to positive, negative to negative. If it was connected backwards damage would occur.

The battery charger needs an initial voltage at the OUTPUT terminal to initiate the charger operation. In addition to operating some relay(s), the control circuitry may also need power to initialise.

Once you switch on the charger, it will hold on on its own.
