Below is the 2.5mm x 5.5mm barrel plug that powers my laptop. Note that the molded strain relief has broken, though the wires are still intact (not for long!).

I will likely just buy another connector and replace it.

Before that, though, I am entertaining ideas on how to repair the existing connector. Thoughts?

 

You could try some heat shrink on it.

 

RTV and then heat shrink with the resin inside it. I think they call it Epoxy Lined Heat Shrink.

Hot glue is ugly but effective for immobilizing a break like that. It lasts longer than you’d expect.

 

Hot glue seems a very effective one to keep that intact.

 

Yup. I've found the "Gorilla" brand to be especially rugged myself.
