I almost feel like I should post that link too!

Ok, Hey, go here and read this:
http://sound.westhost.com/projects

;)

And while that is a great site with great information, which you should read, there is a wealth of info to be had from many-a-musican-cum-effect-designer. Google for DIY STOMPBOX or less general terms like 'diy distortion pedal' 'diy digital delays'

and the such.

Live or high fidelity music has no distortion. Fuzz circuits and tube amps produce plenty of distortion.

Distortion is mostly added high frequency harmonics that blow up tweeters and destroy your hearing.

Hello,

As for the tubes, here are two more pages from the EDUCYPEDIA.

One with general information on tubes:
http://www.educypedia.be/electronics/tubes.htm

And one with datasheets of tubes:
http://www.educypedia.be/electronics/tubesdata.htm

If you notice a website is not available anymore, you can take a look in the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine):
http://www.archive.org/web/web.php
Just type the not working URL in the search line and you will get the dates the pages was available.
