i live in an apartment so space is limited. i put up a long wire antenna along the ceiling. its about 30 feet long. im working with HF and MF. i have several AM and shortwave projects in the works. my question is if you look at the pic i tied off the ends with several loops and knots. i know when the frequency goes up a small amount of inductance can make a big difference when dealing with tank circuits. will this affect performance?

You could make a 1/4 wave antenna. I doubt you will affect the circuit much since you are receiving only, transmitting would be the critical one.

Lambda will let you tune to a specific frequency if you want to be precise (making your own antenna). Long line antennas are used primarily with side band units with autotune couplers.

If you are happy with the performance don't worry about it.
