I guess that by now you realise that a little more information would be helpfull for your "temperature" measurement or detection. Some common sensors are: bi-metal, mercury thermal expansion; thermistors, diodes- resistance change with temp.; thermacouples - self voltage production porportional to temp.

Hello,

Even a PIR detector (also called motion detector) reacts on "heat" changes.
After reading your post, and re-reading the OP, with some interpretation and lack of coffee, that might be what he is asking for.

I guess we will find out when he returns.

Temperature is how almost everyone measures delta heat. ;)

Not anyone that has learned thermodynamics. Set a pot to boil on the stove. It'll start boiling at 100C, but you'll still have to add a LOT of heat to boil it all away. Lots of delta H with zero delta T. But perhaps this detail is irrelevant to the OP, who appears to have left us.
