Hi guys,

I'm looking at the data sheet for a ADC,

ADC0804

I just wanted to know what CS , WR , RD , and INTR mean... ? and how can I use them to be able to convert an incoming analog voltage at any rate.

CS - Chip select
WR - Write
RD - Read
INTR - Interrupt

Why do we have both read and write ? I can understand why we have a read ( as in read in the digital value ) , but why is there a Write , and what is Interrupt... I don't think it explains it at all in the datasheet

 

The ADC804 data sheet does not appear to use any of those signals. It's a serial output converter. You give it a convert command, and clock in the result of the conversion.

 

Take a look at page 5 for the timing diagrams which show the order the signals need to be asserted. Page 8 also shows some example configurations. This operates much like an external memory interface.
