I am working on a 8051 project to talk to a PLC with snpx protocol, I am using max 232 as level convertor and cd 4053 mux as switch to switch between controller sio and modem will there be need to use seperate power supply other than 5VDC for the switch operation on the 4053 mux so as to obtain swing of serial signals?
