I need to monitor the "remaining life" in a 6s LiPo battery and I'd like to use a dedicated IC. However, most ICs I've found, such as the BQ27200DRKR, are made for cell phones and only monitor single cell LiPo batteries. I did find one chip from TI for a Li-Ion 6s configuration, but it doesn't have the features of the BQ27200DRKR (the BQ27200DRKR has a REALLY neat feature of outputing the exact HH:MM:SS left in the battery and learns from the battery's behavior over time)

Do you think it would it be possible to use the BQ27200DRKR to monitor the voltage of just 1 of the 6 cells? Would that work? I'm open to other ideas and suggestions too. Thanks!

 

I believe that monitoring a single cell would work, but Li batteries make me nervous- little experience with them.
