The H-1B Visa debate has been going for over 20 years and here's the latest and not so greatest on the revelations aired on 60 Minutes last night:

I've got a lot to say about this, but I'm going to let everyone vent their opinions first.

 

What is there to say? It's initial conception had a worthy goal. It's implementation had many flaws, which many businesses exploited. I saw it happen firsthand at one of my employers. Every engineer was replaced by an Indian or Ukraine H-1B holder.

 

The law of unintended consequences is a bitch. Few laws escape it.

 

Believe it or not, I had an opportunity to work in India on a skilled labor importing program similar to the H-1B visa used by employers here in the U.S. The job involved the installation and modernization of elevators for a large multinational manufacturer and contractor.

I did some research on India and I became all too familiar with life and culture of that country. It's a Third World operation with serious poverty, health, and environmental problems. I declined the job and decided I'd be better off staying here in First World U.S.
