5V from RS232 ?

Can sombody help me to get 5V from RS232.I have circuit for that but current is too low around 10mA.That is from DTR and RTS of rs232.if you have any other solutions for higher current rating pls share it.jaison

How much current are you looking for? The amount will always be limited because it is coming from driver pins designed to be signal sources not power sources.

My requirement is to operate one IR LED and a Photodiode. But i dont think the current of 10mA from RS232 port is sufficient for that.Any idea about that?

Most of the newer LEDs put out plenty of light at less then 10ma. Try one at say 3ma and see if your photodiode gets enough light to function.
