Hello, I am working with TSOP38238 (the data sheet is http://www.vishay.com/docs/81733/tsop382.pdf )

The problem I am getting is that it puts out pulses about every 2-3 seconds which throws off my microcontroller.

I have built the circuit as defined in the data sheet using a 220 ohm resistor and a 0.1uF cap.

It does read the infrared remote well enough, but its the other pulses that I have the issue with.

I watched it on my oscilliscope and every 2-3 seconds a bunch of pulses go thorugh. I have 30 of these sensors, and I have tried it on others with the same response. Is this something inherent with this sensor, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.
Jeff

I was able to figure it out. I wired it directly on perf board and put a 47 uF cap between Vss and Ground. This seemed to take away the spurious response.
