I've read the schematic, but I'm not certain how I should wire it up. The datasheet shows a plug symbol with the 1, 2 & 3 pins labeled on it, but I'm not sure how to read it. Thanks!

After further research, I figured out what the jack is looking for...I think. 1 is the ground wire and 2 is the signal. 3 seems to be an interrupt. From what I can tell it is to stop another signal such as cutting the audio to speakers when a headphone is plugged in. For my purposes it won't be needed and I think I can just leave the jack alone.

That sparks another question. Should I ground pin 3 so it doesn't receive any stray signal or will it be fine just hanging out?

 

The extra contact on your jack is so small that it won't pickup interference.
